Integrity for the Holiday Season
A Google search for integrity brings up a definition that can be summed up as, Intact, Whole, or Lacking Corruption.
This is a word that has withstood the strains of society to become less than originally intended. For instance, honest is a great word, but one that has become more or less challenged to mean its true definition when in use. (“I didn’t break it, honest!” or “honest as a used car salesman”) In this context honest is juxtaposed to being a liar, or rather, less than trustworthy, dishonest.
Integrity is a solid word, steadfast and true. A building has integrity; its steel-enforced walls and concrete structure ensure that the building is safe to occupy. However, if a building loses its integrity, you dare not occupy or even enter the place.
Strength of character is summed up as having Integrity.
Striving for Integrity is the epitome of becoming a whole and trustworthy person. To hold yourself accountable to strong ethics and a moral compass based on non sectarian principles is to be of high integrity.
